The Emergency Department at UCVH provides 24 hour a day care for patients with all types of acute illnesses or injuries. The department is staffed by Emergency Providers, Registered Nurses, and Emergency Technicians who have a passion for emergency medicine. Whenever possible, it is our mission to stabilize, treat, and discharge our patients back home, or in some cases, stabilize and transfer the emergent conditions that present to our facility. Transfers to other facilities that provide the services that our hospital does not offer within the scope of services listed, are arranged with patient and/or family consent and through coordinating communication with the accepting facility. We work efficiently with the regional ambulance service and medical flight services for transport needs as the cases arise. We work collaboratively with experts in specialty fields when the patient condition warrants such a consultation. We are proud of the care we deliver, proud of the state of the art equipment we have, and proud to be an Emergency Department you can count on when you need us most.
The Urgent Care Clinic is an alternative way to receive same day care at UCVH that does not require an appointment. The operational hours of the clinic are 9am – 7 pm, 7 days a week, including holidays. The clinic is designed for those patients with minor medical problems that do not require the diagnostic use of X-ray’s or blood testing. We provide assistance at discharge with making follow up appointments with your PCP and calling in medications to the Pharmacy of your choice if needed. Examples of conditions treated in the Urgent Care Clinic are abrasions requiring cleaning only; minor burns; minor bumps and bruises; earaches and sore throats; simple urinary tract infections; and colds. If the Provider on duty feels it is necessary to obtain X-rays or blood work, the charge for the service must reflect a change to an Emergency Department charge.
